ESCONDIDO — Pay tribute to a family member or friend who is a veteran or is serving in the military by participating in the “Wall of Stars” at the Escondido Library, 239 S. Kalmia St. Stop by the information desk or children’s rooms and make a star with the individual’s name and branch of service. The stars will be displayed on the libraries’ “Wall of Stars” in the lobbies and children’s rooms at both locations through Nov. 30. POWAY—Friday 11/11 at 11am The Poway Veterans Park Committee and VFW Post 7907 hosts a public ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday at Veterans Park, 14135 Midland Road to honor past, present and future members of the armed services. The ceremony will begin by “posting the colors” at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Special guests include members of American Legion Post 479, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 70 and a local Cub Scout troop. The Veterans Park cannon will be fired twice at the end of the ceremony. RANCHO BERNARDO—Friday 11/11 11am The annual observance at the Rancho Bernardo Veterans Memorial will take place at Webb Park at Avena Place, off Bernardo Center Drive. At 11 a.m., a Marine Corps band will perform patriotic music, and the ceremony will feature an invocation, flags presentation and a Marine Corps color guard. This year’s speaker is Cmdr. SOLANA BEACH—Friday 11/11 11am VFW Post 5431 will present a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday in La Colonia Park, 715 Valley Ave. This year’s featured speaker is retired Navy SEAL Tom Revaz. There will be a flag presentation by the Camp Pendleton Young Marines Color Guard and a performance by the Santa Fe Christian High School Band. The event is open to local veterans, who are asked to reserve in advance. The program begins with a pre-event reception from 9:30-10 a.m. The service will feature a color guard, student presentation and live music performances.
