Hello November! It’s time to start gearing up for the holiday seasons and polishing off checklists from our Fall activities. From street fairs, to beer festivals, to the annual O’side Turkey Trot and Encinitas Turkey Trot, this month is filled with something for everyone! November 4th is the day to get a head start on shopping for holiday gifts! The largest single day street fair in the nation is in your neighborhood! From 8am-4pm, the Carlsbad Village Faire will flood the streets with over 100,000 people and 900 vendors selling everything from clothes, accessories, plants, household products, art, antiques and home décor! Grab a bite at the international food court and enjoy this coastal village!

The City of San Marcos is hosting a Veterans Day Ceremony to celebrate and thank the city’s hometown veteran heroes. Hosted from 9-12 at Helen Bougher Memorial Park, 1243 Borden Road, and the program will celebrate local veterans though a formal military ceremony. The 9 am refreshment hour will feature patriotic displays, music and retiring of the flag followed by a ceremony at 10 am and then traditional reception with complimentary cake and coffee. Admission to this special event is free but parking is limited so guests are encouraged to carpool. Military veterans and active duty personnel are invited to attend in uniform.
Tamale festival?!? Why not! The Escondido Tamale Festival is not only a celebration of delicious Tamales, but all great Latin foods that have become iconic staples of California culture. Celebrate the history of Spanish and Mexican settlers who built the framework of this cuisine. Live music, vendors, contests, and crafts and events for the kids! Stock up for the holidays with a holiday pre-order of tamales. Tamale Festival is an official event of San Diego Beer Week!
The 27th Annual Encinitas Fall Festival is the perfect opportunity for your holiday shopping! Visit over 450 booths and dozens of unique downtown retailers on Sunday, Nov. 20 from 9am-4pm. Enjoy dance performances and live music at the Lumberyard Courtyard. Check Encinitas101.com
Before you “gobble til’ you wobble”, put on those tennis shoes and participate in the Encinitas Turkey Trot and Food Drive on Thanksgiving morning. Sign up for either a 5k or 10k walk/run. This beautiful course starts along the Pacific Coast in Encinitas, passes the famous “Cardiff Kook” statue, and rises above some of the most popular surf breaks along Cardiff State Beach.
