Hello September! September is much more than the smell of fresh sharpened pencils and the site of the yellow school bus as kids head back-to-school. September is festivals, parades, the official kick-start to football season, beer and food festivals, and outdoor plays in the park. While your week nights might be filled with running errands to get last minute school supplies and helping the kids out with their homework, fill your weekends by taking advantage of all the fun activities happening in North County. It’s back! The 2nd annual Carlsbad Brewfest is happening on September 12th from 12pm-4:30pm at Holiday Park. Enjoy over 30 of the finest San Diego County local beers while enjoying music, entertainment, games and food vendors! Jump in that barrel and start stomping at the Grape Day Festival and Parade in Escondido on Sept. 12th! After you are all stomped out, enjoy entertainment, contests, fun zone, and an international food court. Oh, and did we mention free grapes?!? For early birds, grab your running shoes and participate in a 5k run followed by a parade at 9:30am with marching bands, walking groups, equestrians and historic cars.
The sites and scents of a Greek marketplace will be recreated right here in North County. Enjoy the 37th Annual Greek Festival in Cardiff with folk dancers, musicians, pottery, jewelry, artwork and of course, traditional Greek cuisine. Fun for the whole family! Cruise on over to Poway on Saturday, September 12th for the 51st Annual Poway Days Parade! The parade begins at 9am and starts from Pomerado Road and Poway Road and continues to Bowron Road. Are you an early riser with some energy to spare? Kick off the morning with a 5k Fun Run at 7am. Registration for the run begins 9/4 – grab your spot!
Throw on your blue and gold jersey, start grilling some wings, and get ready for the Chargers as they kick-off their first game of the season against the Lions! Craving some delicious game day food, but don’t feel like cooking? Head on over to Buffalo Wings in Oceanside. This place is filled with a plethora of TV’s – not a bad seat in the house! Go Chargers!
Cheers! The 20th Annual Encinitas Octoberfest is just around the corner! In addition to the authentic German food and beers from national breweries, this year’s event will also feature the Encinitas Magazine “Keepin’ It Local” Craft Beer Garden highlighting local breweries – putting a unique twist on Oktoberfest . There will also be performances by The Alpine Quintett, a 5 piece band dressed in genuine Bavacrian “Tracht”, Gemuetlichkeit Alpine dancers, and a street craft faire with over 200 vendors with unique arts and craft items. This event will kick off at 10am on Sunday, September 20th.
