Hello July. July is the month for summer fun. After kicking off the month with some delicious grilled grub celebrating Independence Day, to cruising on down to Del Mar to watch the infamous horse races and catch some summer night concerts, this month has a lot in store for you. And on a more local note, did you hear that Oceanside now has San Diego County’s first-ever Kombucha bar? Join in the fun, pack those picnic baskets, head to the beach and enjoy our beautiful NCSD summer.
It’s time to treat your puppy to some summer fun! Take your furry friend to an off-leash dog park that has tons of room to unleash that energy! The dog park at Alga Norte Community Park, which just opened December 2013, is divided into areas for larger and smaller dogs. The park even includes obstacle course play equipment for your dog to test out and show off some tricks!
Hop on the Kombucha craze and head on over to Oceanside to San Diego County’s first ever Kombucha brewery! At Living Tea’s Organic Kombucha, just off Wisconsin Ave., taste a myriad of different flavors and learn about this unique fermented drink. Is there a flavor that you just love? Here, you can buy an entire growler of Kombucha to bring home!
July is the perfect month to fire up those grills and picnic in the park. Looking for the perfect spot to do so? Check out San Dieguito County Park in Del Mar – a 125-acre park featuring a variety of recreational activities including playgrounds, exercise stations, a basketball court, large open lawn and picnic areas as well as BBQ’s and restrooms. The park is open daily from 9:30am-sunset.
Ohhh. Ahhh. Let the fireworks begin! It’s time to celebrate America’s Independence! North County San Diego has a plethora of firework shows to choose from. Grab those blankets and get ready to embrace a spectacular show of lights in the sky! Visit the link below to find a show nearest you!
Looking for a new way to spend a summer evening that won’t cost you a dime? Head on over to Moonlight Beach in Encinitas for Sunday Summer Concerts by the Sea from 3-5pm. Check out the summer lineup as there will be a variety of bands ranging from rock/funk, 60’s, and reggae.
6) Comic Con
We know tickets are sold out but who’s to say you can’t go down to people watch! So start preparing your costume! Comic Con, 2015 is running from July 9th-12th with a special preview night on Thursday July 8th. This year marks the 46th year for the show, making it the country’s longest continuously-run comics and popular arts convention. With anime screenings, blood drive, Comic-Con International Film Festival, Fan Meeting rooms, games and more, this is surely a convention not to miss. Oh, and let’s not forget the incredible costumes and people watching.
Nothing screams summer like grilling out in the backyard listening to some Johnny Cash. But this year, how about opting in for some live music in the park? That’s right. Cash’d Out, A Johnny Cash Tribute Band, will be playing on July 10th as part of the TGIF Concerts in the Park series. Grab those picnic blankets and grab a basket of your favorite treats, and enjoy some live music with the whole family! Be sure to check out the line up for the rest of the summer shows, the series runs through August 21st.

More than 45,000 race fans are expected to flock this annual bash! July 17th kicks off the 4 O’Clock Friday’s Summer Concert Series at Del Mar Racetrack! Concerts are free with racetrack admission, or $20 if you arrive after the last race of the day. July’s concert series includes The Wallflowers, The Offspring, The Wailers and The Crystal Method. But stay tuned for August as they will featuring many more concerts including Ziggy Marley, Pepper and Weezer to name a few!
