Rancho San Dieguito was renamed Rancho Sante Fe in 1922, and construction began to build the foundation that still exists today. Homes for sale in Rancho Santa Fe date back as early as 1923, though most aren’t nearly of that age! The Covenant was recognized as a state Historic Landmark (#982) in 1989. This is a very unique area to live, due in large part to planning that occured almost 100 years ago.

The character of the Covenant is barely seen while driving through many of the quiet winding roads of Rancho Santa Fe. As the oldest actively planned community in California, the Covenant has existed healthily since 1927. What is significant is the continuity of rules and master plans that keeps the private, rural and safe community the way it is from generation to generation.
While maintaining an old world country charm, the community is not without the finest of services and convenience. Golf clubs, fine dining, and many other needs are in the Village. So many high end vehicles exist in the area that the gas station occasionally carries 100 octane fuel.
If you are looking for multi-acre seclusion within minutes of everything San Diego has to offer, this exclusive community is the right choice for you! From equestrian estates to posh country club homes, there are many different styles to choose from in Rancho Santa Fe. One thing of note: there are no personal mailboxes in the Ranch, so if one is planning to move to the area you need to secure a P.O Box for delivery.
