33rd Annual Dixon Lake Trout Derby November 10–November 13, 2011
The annual Trout Derby—is a fun-filled family event that offers anglers of all ages many ways to win great prizes.
Every year during the month of November, Dixon Lake celebrates the anniversary of this event with a four-day derby.
One of the largest participatory sports events in the region, the derby draws hundreds of anglers from all over Southern California.
To make the event competitive for the beginner, as well as the experienced angler, there are a variety of ways to win.
Prizes will be awarded for the largest trout of the derby; the largest in each age category (senior, adult, and youth); the first and second largest trout of each day; the smallest trout of the derby; and for the first 15 trout brought in that have a plastic clip on their dorsal fin.
To enter, each fisherman must purchase a daily permit normally required to fish the lake ($7.00 adults, $5.00 seniors over 60, and $5.00 for kids under 16). $5 vehicle entry fee into the park will be charged each day of the derby
There is no additional charge to enter the derby. Fish must be weighed in during derby hours, 6 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., on the day they are caught. Since contestants can win only one prize, chances of winning are good. For further information, contact the Dixon Lake ranger staff at (760) 839-4680.
