Kick off the holiday season and get into the spirit with a local parade. Here’s a fun list of the local events happening in North County San Diego.
This year’s Parade theme is “Growing Holiday Cheer” – celebrating Encinitas’ rich agricultural history, from flowers to fruit trees, and everything in between! Come on out and cheer as the nearly 100 parade floats and entries make their way down the Parade route on Historic Coast Highway 101. The Parade has been a 50 year-plus Encinitas tradition for Encinitas area residents.
Carlsbad Pets on Parade 12/8 9:00-2:30pm
This annual event is both a fundraiser for SPOT and an Adoption Event–more of a holiday party, complete with parade of pets around downtown Carlsbad at 12:30pm.
We will have swag bags for all attendees, home baked treats for humans and animals, adoptable dogs and puppies, a silent auction with lots of great stuff, plus a variety of animal related vendor booths. Santa will be there, for pictures with pets, from 9am to noon, and 1:15 to 2:30. We hope you can make it!!
Helen Woodward’s Frosty Farm Event 12/7-12/15 10:00-2:00 every Saturday and Sunday
Take pictures with Santa Claus and his Miniature Horse “Reindeer”, play in ‘REAL’ snow, find your way through a magical Ice Palace Maze, and build your own gingerbread house while sipping on hot cocoa! Weekends of December 7 & 8, 14 & 15 10am-2pm
Oceanside Harbor Parade of Lights 12/14 7:00-9:00
Fishing boats, sail boats, yachts, kayaks and dingys dressed up in holiday swag and circle the Oceanside Harbor to enchant onlookers at the harbor, restaurants and beach. Many of the boats feature people dressed up like Santa waving to the crowd. One of the best viewing spots is along the side of the Oceanside Harbor near the fishing dock and police station. From this vantage point, you can see the parade twice. The concrete walkway that surrounds much of the harbor is also good for spectating the event.
